Martin Luther King Jr.

Date of Birth: 01/05/1929 | Date of Passing: 04/04/1968 | Date of Funeral: 04/09/1968

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was a man dedicated to opposing the suffering of those who are poor, although he is remembered as a civil rights activist, most notably as an advocate for communities of color. His non-violent methods aimed at social change inspire me daily to continue to fight for those who are oppressed in mine and other communities. He saw all forms of oppression as linked, such that we are all connected to our brothers and sisters of all races, genders, classes, sexual orientations, etc. My favorite quote from him is “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.”
