Astrological Signs: Capricorn
Capricorn, the Sea Goat, is a constellation of the Zodiac most prominent during autumn in the Northern Hemisphere. The capricorn constellation contains no bright stars, but does have several binary stars and the globular cluster M30. The Tropic of Capricorn was named for the constellation because at that time (about 2,000 years ago) the Sun was in the constellation during the winter solstice on December 22. Because of the precession of the equinoxes, it is no longer in this position during the solstice, having been replaced by Sagittarius. In Astrology, Capricorn governs the period from December 22-January 19.
Personality Traits of a Capricorn: Good organizational skills, Neat & tidy, Practical, Realistic, Strong work ethic, Materialistic tendencies, Conventional, Respects authority, Egotism, Cruel taskmaster, Servility, and Excessive perfectionism. Likes: Simple food, Antiques, History, Responsibility, Not being pressured, Unconditional love, Privacy, Elitism, and Family. Dislikes: Untidiness, Disorder, Being teased, Familiarity, Surprises, New ideas & paths, Loneliness, Being useless, and Public embarrassment.
The Capricorn personality witnesses to the importance of the social order in which one lives, its proper functioning, and the personal fulfilment which can be found through finding one's true place within it. Capricorn follows Sagittarius in the zodiac. Sagittarius is concerned with finding a philosophical or religious framework in which life makes sense, but is not necessarily interested in the practical implications. All the earth signs, of which Capricorn is one, give substance to the ideas of the preceding fire sign. For Capricorn, it is not enough to have a grand idea about the meaning of life. The meaning is lost unless it can be contained within the social order in which people live. Ethical ideas (Sagittarius) must be worked out in terms of socially responsible behaviour (Capricorn).
