Myrrh is an ancient and powerful resin that has been used as far back as ancient Egypt. As a aromatic resin it comes from a species of thorny trees called Commiphora myrrha. The resin is a natural gum that bleeds when a wound penetrates through the bark and into the sapwood. Myrrh gum is waxy, and coagulates quickly, becoming hard and glossy. The gum is yellowish, and may be either clear or opaque. It darkens deeply as it ages, and white streaks emerge.
Astrological Signs: Capricorn
Capricorn, the Sea Goat, is a constellation of the Zodiac most prominent during autumn in the Northern Hemisphere. The capricorn constellation contains no bright stars, but does have several binary stars and the globular cluster M30. The Tropic of Capricorn was named for the constellation because at that time (about 2,000 years ago) the Sun was in the constellation during the winter solstice on December 22. Because of the precession of the equinoxes, it is no longer in this position during the solstice, having been replaced by Sagittarius. In Astrology, Capricorn governs the period from December 22-January 19.
